When I first met you, I could see a story in your eyes. They glowed of all the different things you loved and cherished. They whispered of past stories and future memories. They were just waiting to share deep secrets and wild adventures. We talked of how much fun it would be to share passions and chase dreams.
I talked of intense chases through the woods, and you talked of kittens. I showed you my favorite shoes and you showed me a necklace you had made. I told you my dreams and you told me yours. I pictured you and I on a long car trip to anywhere.
Our lives were the same and different at the same time. We loved the same kind of food but liked different colors. You liked singing and I enjoyed the piano. My hair was wild and yours was tame. I could cook and you could garden.
I still think of you and all the fun that we could have had together. I miss the relationship we never had and the memories we never made. I still wonder what your first car looked like and if you ever made it as a veterinarian. I wonder if you ever moved and if you met the person of your dreams.
I hope you learned to love the simple things and learned to love your flaws. I hope that you learn to be content with what you have but still work hard. I hope you still think that rain is nice, and shadows are where the fairies hide. I hope that if you ever think of me you think of me as the friend you never had
