Why is it so hard to write a book?! I mean what did I expect.

I have allowed the curse to marinate, and it will definitely require a new post later down the road but for now we must progress. Today I will bring you along as I brainstorm for the “HALO”. This is the armor/defense that the guardians use to protect themselves from the curse. Think military, fantasy, equipment.

Appearance

The HALO (Halion Activated Loadout Overguard) is made from a Made from a poly-crystal material. On the surface you can see a network of thin, glowing lines. HALO has a little cyberpunk mixed with contemporary tactical gear. It has standard MOLLI webbing for adding accountments and the like. I wanted a more modern design to help it be more understandable for modern day warriors who wear similar armor day to day. I think they cyber punk trend is the effect I want the minimal technology in the book to look like.

At the center of the chest is a radiant blue halo emblem. Because why not? I am not opposed to somethings being so literal that it is a little cringy.

Method of Protection

The HALO is powered by Halion. Halion will have to get its own post, but it is “the curse” in physical form. Halion doesn’t just block attacks – it devours them. Kinetic strikes, plasma blasts, psychic surges… whatever the enemy attacks with. Every absorbed attack feeds the internal charge in the Halion.

If too much energy is absorbed too quickly, Halion can fracture or destabilize. This will cause you to be infected with the curse. The guardians must learn to regulate its hunger, or risk being consumed by their own armor.

• Guardian Sync Protocol: Links armor to assigned human’s bio-signature
